Today we are very excited to announce MailStore Server 7.

New Features and Improvements:

64-bit Support – The MailStore Server Windows service now runs natively as a 64 bit process on 64 bit platforms. There is still only one setup application. Setup decides whether to install the 32 bit or 64 bit version of the service.

New Archive Store Concept – The new „archive stores“ replace the „file groups“ known from earlier MailStore Server versions. Conversion is done quickly and automatically. Advantages of the new concept include:

Archive stores have names which are independent from the directory they are stored in.

Archive stores are independent from the master database. In fact, they can easily be detached and reattached on a different server.

Archive stores can be temporarily disabled rather than having to be detached.

Archive stores can place their metadata, contents and search index parts in different directories on separate volumes.

Archive stores can handle much larger folder structures than the file groups from MailStore Server 6, making them much better suitable for larger installations.

Microsoft SQL Server Support – MailStore Server can store metadata and (if wished) contents in a Microsoft SQL Server database. We support SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012.

PostgreSQL Support – MailStore Server can store metadata and (if wished) contents in a PostgreSQL opensource database.

Mobile Web Access – A new web access for mobile devices replaces the old iPhone client and supports a much broader range of devices, for example

BlackBerry

Google Android

Windows Phone

iPhone, iPod touch, iPad

Better Microsoft Exchange Web Services (EWS) Support – Much better error handling. Client throttling support (avoiding “EWS 500” and “ErrorServerBusy” errors).

Multithreaded Multi Mailbox Archiving – Multi-mailbox archiving can now be spread over multiple threads (e.g. 5 or 25), making it much faster and more interesting for larger companies.

First-class support for IceWarp Email Server – Multi-mailbox archiving, multidrop (Exchange Journal-like) archiving, synchronization of the user database including groups support.

First-class support for Kerio Connect E-mail Server – Multi-mailbox archiving, multidrop (Exchange Journal-like) archiving, synchronization of the user database including groups support.

New Generic Multi-Mailbox Archiving – For all other e-mail servers. Based on SASL authentication (RFC standard).

Much more flexible user and folder management – Management of users and archive folders has been improved. Some examples:

Users can now be renamed.

User archives can now be renamed.

Emails and folders can now be moved between user archives.

It is now possible to set privileges for multiple users in one step.

API (Application Programming Interface) – Provides a complete set of commands for managing archive stores and users.

VSS Writer – MailStore Server now includes a VSS writer which makes backup easier and faster in some scenarios, and dramatically reduces downtime during backup to a few seconds.

MailStore Server Startup Script – You can now provide a startup script (batch file) to make it much easier to use MailStore Server together with Network Attached Storage (NAS).

New UI Design based on our new Corporate Design – We integrated our new logo and adapted the whole software to our new corporate design.

As reported by some users of our new MailStore Home 7 Beta a specific virus scanner software signals a trojan (TR/Spy.Gen). But this obviously is a “false-positive” and not true.

Due to our very high safety standards a release of an infected software version is almost impossible. So we ask for your kind support: If you have such a supposedly infected file please inform the vendor of your antivirus software about the download link and tell them to check it manually.

A review using services like virustotal.com showed up that only 1 out of 42 well known virus scanners reports this problem with MailStore Home 7 Beta – and it is Avira AntiVir.

Update April, 24th, 2012:
No problems with Avira AntiVir any longer.

We are glad to announce a new member of our distribution network in Turkey. This undescores and bolsters our international growth strategy on the email archiving and management market.

As of April 2012, FINS (Future Information Network Solutions) headquartered in Istanbul will join the group of international MailStore distributors. FINS specializes in the distribution of high-grade backup and network management solutions and decided to add the leading MailStore Server 6.0 technology from Germany to their portfolio after carefully sounding out various email management systems.

Heinz B. Wietfeld, Director Global Sales at MailStore: “The Turkish IT market is one of the most exciting emerging markets worldwide, which is evidenced in the strong demand for high-end technologies such as MailStore Server. The trend of Turkish companies expanding on the international stage means that the Turkish parent companies also need to comply with EU and/or U.S. legislation to a certain degree. Given this backdrop, we are very happy to have gained a well-established and strong partner such as FINS as MailStore Server sales partner in Turkey. We are convinced that FINS and its many partners will play a major role in shaping the Turkish email management market of today and tomorrow.”

We are proud to announce the expansion of our management team. Heinz B. Wietfeld (40), who joined the company in April 2012 as ‘Director Global Sales,’ will bring further impetus to our rapid international growth.

Heinz B. Wietfeld has successfully filled various enterprise content management-related positions in sales and management for close to 15 years, and he is highly experienced in the rapid globalization of sales networks. Wietfeld holds a degree in business administration and brings an active business network to the table, in particular in Europe, the Arab region and North America. Heinz is married, has a daughter and lives near Koblenz, Germany.

Heinz B. Wietfeld: “I’m very excited about this opportunity to contribute to the impressive success story of MailStore. I believe that up to date only very few European software companies have been able to impact a market segment as profoundly in as short a time as MailStore has over the past two years. The company successfully positioned a technologically leading solution, rapidly advancing from an ECM niche provider to a well-established player in the industry, both on a national and international level. This is reflected by the fact that already more than half of our customers are based outside of the DACH region.

The majority of our nearly 10,000 MailStore business customers use our applications in scenarios ranging from 5 to approx. 250 workstations. However, we and our sales partners are noticing an increasing trend of large corporations with thousands of workstations also turning to products from MailStore. In particular, our broad range of supported email solutions, which is further enhanced by providing convenient access to the archive via mobile devices such as an iPad, makes us an ever more popular choice not only with the IT management but also with senior decision makers.”

CEO and MailStore Software Corp. founder Tim Berger: “We are very pleased to welcome a manager of Mr. Wietfeld’s caliber and experience to oversee all sales activities. Our sales team and the international partner network are growing at a tremendous pace, which is why we need to individually adopt our structure to the various sales growth phases both internally and externally. Given this backdrop, the fact that Mr. Wietfeld has already lived and worked in the U.S. will allow us to further improve our understanding of and traction in our largest non-domestic market.”

The key element of the optimized internet presence is the new company logo – which comes with a clarity of shape, a dynamic designing and the catchy MailStore colour scheme. Take a look at www.mailstore.com and enjoy! We also would appreciate your feedback.

But the MailStore webpage is not only offering a new design, but also optimized content and a user-friendly structure. New whitepapers are available as well as technical background information. The access to the website is possible by choosing a certain product – or solution-oriented: Single market segments are focussed as well as the most important fields of application for an email archiving software.

And what was the reason for creating a new MailStore online-world? Our CEO Tim Berger points out: „The email archiving sector is a rapidly growing market. Our sales figures are developing very well. We are now targeting Asia and the North-American markets. Regarding this we created the new look-and-feel.“

The clear and contemporary design, the high usability structure and the new content are now online following www.mailstore.com.

In the IT environment at companies of all sizes, emails can get lost for many reasons every day. The five most common scenarios are:

Users delete emails accidentally or intentionally, for instance, employees often delete their entire inbox when they leave the company.

Mailbox limits force users to delete their emails or to store them as PST files.

Emails can also be lost due to incomplete data backup – for instance, when emails are deleted before they are backed up for the first time.

Emails can be lost because PST files are corrupt or often not backed up.

Emails are in many cases distributed across different systems, servers, email programs, or external mailboxes. Over the years, this decentralized data storage can gradually lead to data loss.

For companies, the loss of emails means not only the loss of important information, but also the loss of productivity. Employees need fast, easy, and, above all, complete access to the information contained in their emails in order to work efficiently on a daily basis.

The centralized archiving of all emails within a company is an effective means of protection against data loss. The archiving process can be set up in such a way that all existing emails and all future incoming and outgoing emails can be archived automatically. In this way, users can neither change nor delete emails before they are archived.

No Mailbox Limits and PST Files Needed

With archiving, mailbox limits are no longer necessary. The archiving solution can delete emails over a certain age from the mailboxes, so that the data volume on the email server is maintained at a constant level. At the same time, users still have guaranteed access to all of their emails through the archive (e.g., directly from Microsoft Outlook).

Generally considered a special challenge for administrators, PST files can also be archived and removed afterward. Since mailbox limits are unnecessary in an email archiving scenario, PST files are no longer required for storing emails outside of the mailboxes.

A solution such as MailStore Server makes it possible to archive emails from one source–or many different email systems. In this way, emails from heterogeneous IT landscapes, which have often grown over the course of many years, can also be archived centrally.

Today former deepinvent changed its company name into MailStore Software GmbH. Besides the new name there are no other changes at all: the company will remain involved in the email archiving market and MailStore Server and MailStore Home will remain the flagships in its portfolio. Particulary after 2011 being the economically best year in corporate history it was not far to focus on branding from now on. With the harmonization of “brand” and “corporate identity” the new year starts as lively as it will continue with lots of promising steps in the making.
